SLD 10/106 - THE STOP WORK AND PROTEST RALLY

If you are a CEPU member (on the EBA or an expired AWA) you should be involved in the mass meeting and protest rally.

Telstra needs to know your feelings on:

·         The discrimination represented by paying those who are on a non-negotiated, non-union ECA, more than those on an EBA.

·         The fact that Telstra has no plans to close the gap between ECA and EBA pay and says it hasn’t even thought about closing the gap now or in the future.

·         When the next EBA is negotiated, and the ECA and EBA employees are in the same agreement, there will be a pay rate for former ECA employees, which is significantly higher than the pay rate for EBA employees doing the same job on the same banding.

·         Yet another slash and burn round of 900 redundancies, making it even harder to do your job and satisfy customers.

CEPU members will stop work at 10 AM on WEDNESDAY 5th MAY 2010.

*         The mass meeting will begin at 11 AM at the VICTORIAN TRADES HALL, 54 LYGON STREET, CARLTON.

*         After the Mass Meeting at the Trades Hall, we will march to the Telstra T Life Shop on the corner of Bourke and Swanston Streets, Melbourne.

*         We will hold a protest rally at the T Life Shop to publicise our views.

The stop work action has been notified to Telstra as required by law. We have notified of an indefinite stoppage on the day (5th May), beginning at 10AM for all CEPU members on the EBA and expired AWAs. The stoppage is legal, protested action.

The mass meeting will provide an opportunity for members to hear up-to-date reports on the negotiations and to discuss members views about the current situation. This will help the CEPU decide on the next steps in the EBA campaign
